4 | #+title: PantherX
---|
5 | Hello, I've just discovered your pantherx project thanks to
---|
6 | @emergencychina. He has shared the link in telegram group about guix
---|
7 | (there are ~150 people).
---|
8 |
---|
9 | My name is Mikhail Kirillov. I'm using guix and emacs for about 3 years
---|
10 | for a work and personal use. I'm not much involved in guix development
---|
11 | (I've sent maybe 1 or 2 patches), but I have some packages defined for
---|
12 | my own use stored in my dotfiles git repo. I support free software
---|
13 | movement for quite some time and administrate local chats about free
---|
14 | software (in russian language) in telegram related to free software (GNU
---|
15 | group, Emacs, Guix, Lisp).

---|
19 | @emergencychina have said, that you can provide an employment to work on
---|
20 | guix code for pantherx. If there is an open vacancy, I would love to
---|
21 | join to your initiative. Not ideally, but I was working in Guile and
---|
22 | Scheme before. Profesionally I do web backends using PHP (and symfony)
---|
23 | and Python (flask, django). I know a bit of C and interested in FP and
---|
24 | lisp-like languages.
---|
25 |
---|
26 | I would love to see the source code of pantherx to setup it and tinker
---|
27 | it on my own computer, but looks like https://git.pantherx.org/ is not
---|
28 | open for everyone. I use libreboot'ed thinkpad x200t, so I can test some
---|
29 | setups on my low end pc.
---|
30 |
---|
31 | Also I've been creating my own mirror of Guix with a build-farm and
---|
32 | Software Heritage, thats work in progress project. I was planning to do
---|
33 | something that looks like LTS stable release of guix with stable packs
---|
34 | of software for non tech users and such users that prefer debian-way of
---|
35 | dealing with packages. I was happy to know, that someone is planning to
---|
36 | do similar thing (I've seen text about lts release called "Institution"
---|
37 | on one of panterx pages).
